As a Postal employee, I get to say: "we do a LOT of things right", and it often is overlooked or taken for granted. After all, I grumble over postage costs, just as any patron and hope that cost-saving proposals are approved by Congress.
Some of you may remember a few blogs back about the USPS getting approval to no longer delivernewspapers or magazines depicting animal cruelty by story/pictures. Mainly the largest offender was about "cock-fighting", which is illegal and abhorrent to most.
Today, we all sported various green, whether clothing or fun accessories. And today's USPS announcement :

Today I have been labelled "vindictive". Utterly sad, almost laughable, but nonetheless "pet owners" across the country are fed up with the lack of any recourse to advocate for their pet.
I have lots of company, unfortunately:

Sunshine in New Hampshire works like this:
I never expected to become self-educated on so many topics in the last few years, but here is another, and a very important one at that! Why so important? Because if people insisted on more "right-to-know" requests and government transparency, then just maybe...bad & corrupt events wouldn't happen and far less people would get hurt.
Have you noticed that New Hampshire journalism & reporting ---whether newspaper, radio, or TV has diminished significantly? It hurts everyone, when you are denied information to protect citizens and consumers.

An interesting blog on Dolittler prompted some serious thought...
http://www.dolittler.com/2010/03/08/Vet.tech.bitten.dog.cited.Wheres.the.justice...html#comments
Vet tech bitten, dog cited. Where’s the justice? , a story about a doxie that bit the lip of a vet technician in Colorado. The dog was reported to the authorities will full blessing of the Vet-owner of the clinic and now the dog has been labeled "dangerous", with the fate unknown
So curious as to potential liability surrounding this case, I wondered if there could be legal implications or insurance implications.
I did not have to remain curious for too long:
"
"The Lawrence County Court of Common Pleas recently considered a case wherein a veterinary assistant was bit by a client’s dog and determined that her lawsuit against the dog’s owner was allowed to proceed. The bite occurred during an examination of the dog. According to the court opinion, the owner of the dog knew that the dog had exhibited aggressive tendencies around certain people and the owner knew that the dog was sensitive to people touching it around its hindquarters."
There are several methods of prevention to protect "you", the client-owner:
What does this mean to the unobserved/unwitnessed 'accident'...when the owner has dropped the pet off?
Anyone have some additional good suggestions???
Facts:
Toonces was a diabetic cat in good care of his Owner. Toonces was boarded at his Veterinary clinic to insure his good care and safety.
Toonces was overdosed with insulin by a non-medical staff person and left unattended to go into seizures and insulin coma.
Toonces survived but was left permanently neurologically damaged for his last two years of life.
His owner cared for him continuously at great expense.
The veterinarian received a "rarely" imposed deterrant: $250 fine
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
